Privacy Policy
hecuhecu (the “Provider”) sets out this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) regarding the handling of Users’ personal information in the application “Abstract Thinking Trainer” (the “App”), which the Provider provides.
Section 1 Personal Information
“Personal information” means personal information as defined in Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information: information about a living individual that can identify that specific individual by the name, date of birth, or other description contained in it.
Section 2 Information We Collect
(1) Account information
- The identifier of the anonymous account (user ID)
- If an Apple account is linked: the identifier issued by Apple, and the email address and name if the User consents to providing them
The App automatically creates an anonymous account on first launch. No name or email address is required at that point.
(2) Learning data
- Answers to each question, and whether they were correct, with scores
- Ability scores (theta), consecutive study days, and aggregated tags showing tendencies in incorrect answers
- Answers to each onboarding question (how the User heard about the App, situations in which they think, past difficulties)
(3) Attribute information
The following information, which the User may optionally provide during onboarding.
- Status and age group (junior high / high school student; university or vocational student; student job-hunting; working adult; other)
- Gender (male / female / other)
All of these answers are optional, and all features of the App remain available without answering. This information is used only to improve the App and to analyze how it is used; it is not used to change which questions are presented. The Provider does not collect date of birth or age itself.
(4) Written answers
Answers the User enters as free text (written-response questions, the abstraction game, Why-type thinking training). These are sent to an external AI service in order to generate feedback and responses.
(5) Device and usage information
- Device type, OS version, App version
- How the App is used (screens viewed, features used, and the like)
- Crash information
- Advertising identifier (IDFA). This may be collected for ad delivery and measurement when the App is used free of charge (see Section 7)
(6) Purchase information
- Subscription status, and the history of purchases, renewals, and cancellations
- Receipt information issued by Apple
Payment details such as credit card numbers are managed by Apple; the Provider does not collect them.
(7) Posts to “Community Answers”
The content of a post, where the User has chosen to share it. Posts are published anonymously and can be viewed by other Users. Internally, the Provider retains the link between a post and the User who made it, and uses it to handle reports, blocking, and withdrawal. A withdrawn post is no longer displayed, but a record is retained for a certain period for operational auditing.
(8) Inquiry information
The email address, the content of the inquiry, and device information that the User provides when making an inquiry.
Section 3 Purposes of Use
The Provider uses the information it collects for the following purposes.
- Providing, maintaining, protecting, and improving the App
- Adjusting which questions are presented according to the User’s learning status
- Scoring written answers and providing feedback on them
- Adjusting question difficulty and improving question quality
- Improving the App based on analysis of how it is used (attribute information is used only for this purpose)
- Providing and managing subscriptions
- Responding to inquiries from Users
- Responding to conduct that breaches the Terms of Service
- Delivering notices about the App
- Purposes incidental to the purposes above
Section 4 Provision to Third Parties
The Provider does not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining the User’s prior consent, except in the following cases.
- Where required by law
- Where it is necessary to protect the life, body, or property of a person and it is difficult to obtain the User’s consent
- Where it is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound growth of children, and it is difficult to obtain the User’s consent
- Where it is necessary to cooperate with a national agency, a local government, or a party entrusted by either, in carrying out duties prescribed by law, and obtaining the User’s consent would be likely to impede the performance of those duties
- Where provision accompanies the outsourcing or use of external services set out in Section 5
Section 5 Outsourcing and External Services
The Provider uses the following external services to operate the App. Through these services, part of a User’s personal information is handled by the relevant service provider. For how each service provider handles information, please refer to its own privacy policy.

Section 6 Written Answers and the Use of AI
- Written answers entered by the User in written-response questions, the abstraction game, and Why-type thinking training are sent to an external AI service in order to generate feedback and responses.
- No identifying information such as a name or email address is attached when the answer is sent.
- The AI service the answers are sent to (Google’s Gemini API) may use the transmitted content to improve Google’s services and machine learning technologies.
- Users should take care not to enter personal information, confidential information, or any information that infringes the rights of a third party into a written answer.
- Apart from the features described above, the App does not send User input to any external AI service. The App also does not send the text of a User’s written answers to usage analytics (Firebase Analytics).
Section 7 Advertising
- For Users on the free tier, the App may show rewarded ads (video ads) that the User themselves chooses to start. The App does not show banner ads, interstitial ads, or app open ads. Users with a Premium Plan are not shown ads.
- Ads are delivered using Google AdMob, provided by Google LLC. AdMob may collect information such as advertising identifiers for ad delivery and measurement. AdMob’s privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- For Users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, consent is obtained through a consent management platform (Google UMP) before ads are loaded. If consent is not given, non-personalized ads are delivered.
- On iOS, the App requests permission through App Tracking Transparency before any tracking using the advertising identifier (IDFA). If the User does not grant permission, no tracking using the IDFA is performed. This permission can be changed at any time in the iOS Settings app > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Section 8 Retention Period
- The Provider retains personal information only for the period necessary to achieve the purposes of use.
- If a User withdraws (deletes their account), the learning data associated with that User is deleted. This does not apply to information that must be retained by law, or to statistical information processed so that individuals cannot be identified.
Section 9 Security Measures
The Provider takes necessary and appropriate measures, such as encrypting communications and restricting access permissions, to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of personal information and otherwise to manage it securely.
Section 10 Users’ Rights
- A User may request disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to third parties, of their own personal information held by the Provider.
- Requests under the preceding item should be sent to the contact point in Section 13. The Provider will verify the requester’s identity and respond in accordance with applicable law.
- Learning data can also be deleted through the in-app withdrawal (account deletion) feature.
Section 11 Use by Minors
A minor who uses the App must obtain the prior consent of a parent or other legal representative.
Section 12 Changes to This Policy
- Except for matters prescribed by law or otherwise stated in this Policy, this Policy may be changed without notice to Users.
- Where a change is material, the Provider will announce the content of the change and the date it takes effect, by display within the App or by other appropriate means.
